How can I Strengthen my Lower Back?

I’d like to strengthen my lower back. Can you recommend some simple exercises?


For a strong lower back, it is also important to have strong abdominal muscles. These two muscle groups work together to support your body.

To strengthen your lower back, try exercises that I refer to as “flip flops” — lay on your stomach and slowly lift the opposite arm and leg toward the ceiling; switch sides. Begin with one set of 10 to 12 repetitions, three times per week.

Gradually increase reps to 30, attempting to add a rep or two each workout.
